Hello, wonderful Health Caring Services community!
I’m Krystal Kohler, and I’m beyond excited to be joining the HCS Board! Most of my career has been spent in fundraising, and I’m grateful to use my experience to support HCS’s important work.
In January, I had the incredible chance to volunteer at Hospital Socorro de lo Alto in Honduras, and let me tell you—it was one of the most rewarding, joyful, and awe-inspiring experiences of my life! Each day was filled with meaningful challenges, hard work, and unforgettable moments that brought both smiles and tears.
One thing I cherished deeply was the camaraderie among our volunteers. Whether experienced medical professionals or enthusiastic first-timers, we all became an instant family united by purpose. Sharing meals, laughter, and even late-night exhaustion made the demanding work feel lighter and deeply rewarding.
I remember one evening, after an especially long day, we sat around swapping stories of the day’s triumphs and funny mishaps. It felt incredibly good to be part of a team committed to giving back, and it reminded us all of the amazing good this hospital accomplishes every single day.
In just one whirlwind week, our passionate team performed 43 life-changing surgeries and provided care to 239 clinic patients. Our brigade was just one of many planned throughout the year, each one building on the last to continue making a lasting difference in this community. Seeing firsthand the profound impact of HCS filled me with gratitude, humility, and overwhelming joy. It was such a vivid reminder of the extraordinary things that happen when faith, community, and compassion unite.
As I step into my new role on the HCS Board, my heart is set on nurturing this spirit of joyful collaboration and meaningful impact. We’re always looking for help—whether through fundraising, volunteering on mission trips, joining our board, or helping us acquire vital medical supplies and biomedical equipment. Every bit of your involvement makes an incredible difference.
